MET in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery in Gynecology
Roma RM Rome
Laparoscopic techniques are becoming more and more interesting for gynecologist surgeons, and laparoscopy is emerging as the gold-standard approach for many procedures according to the many hundreds of randomized studies. Our vision is that laparoscopy should be part of the basic knowledge of a modern gynecologist in addition to a thorough knowledge of high-tech laparoscopic instrumentation, which is quickly evolving and requires a specific learning path.
Moreover, although many principles of open surgery may be applied, performing laparoscopic procedures requires special skills. Thus, didactic, practical courses represent the most valuable tool to reduce the time of apprenticeship, learn the different surgical techniques, develop the necessary psychomotor abilities, and become comfortable with the equipment. The main goal of the Medical Expert Training is to provide the participants with the required knowledge of laparoscopy and psychomotor skills as well as practice the procedure on pelvic trainers and in the wet-lab enviroment in order to apply the learned techniques to live surgery.
During video based lectures the trainees will learn about the most important steps for each operation in laparoascopic gynecology. Moreover, they have the possibility to improve their one technique for dissection and suturing. The practical session includes several kinds of procedure based exercises in pelvitrainers and in the wet-lab enviroment during the first two days. The third day is dedicated to live-surgery.
